Govt, protesters agree to resolve sit-in issue at Faizabad

Government and leadership of the protestors have reached an agreement for peaceful resolution of protest sit-in at Faizabad interchange in Islamabad.

The agreement envisages winding up of sit-in and country-wide protests.

Following the understanding, Minister for Law Zahid Hamid has resigned.The religious party demanded his resignation as the amedment in the law was presented to the parliament through his Ministry.

The religious party appreciated restoration of 7-B and 7-C clauses in Khatam-e-Nabuwwat law.

It, however, demanded that report of Raja Zafarul Haq may be made public in thirty days and action taken against those responsible as per law of the land.

All those arrested during protest would be released within three days and cases against them would be withdrawn.

An Inquiry Board would be established to inquire into operation against protestors.

Federal and Punjab Governments would compensate for losses to public and private property during sit-in.

The agreement has been signed by Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal and Secretary Interior on behalf of the Government and Allama Khadim Hussain Rizwi, Pir Muhammad Afzal Qadri and Muhammad Waheed Noor on behalf of the protesting religious party.

In pursuance of the agreement, sit-in leadership has asked all protestors across the country to wind up their sit-ins and protests and return to their homes.

It says Faizabad sit-in would also be ended by this evening.
