Iran discovers innovative solution to increase oil wells productivity

Tehran, May 26, IRNA – Iranian researchers have found a solution that simultaneously decreases greenhouse gasses and increases oil wells' productivity.
Researchers at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad conducted a project to assess oil wellhead's greenhouse gasses injection to depleted or low pressure oil reservoirs with a focus on environment.
They found that injection of the emitted gasses can increase productivity of the oil wells.
The findings will delay the early depletion of oil wells, as well as controlling the destructive impact of greenhouse gasses.
Fossil fuels emit greenhouse gasses that are of major repercussions for the environment. Iran, a country that is home to only one percent of the world population, is one of the 10 largest greenhouse gas emitting countries.
Given the high levels of greenhouse gasses in oil-rich Iranian provinces of Khuzestan and Boushehr, the research is of great importance in terms of environmental concerns.
