Erdogan says NATO countries shouldn't sanction each other

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that NATO countries should not place sanctions against each other as the tensions with Washington mount over Ankara's deal with Russia to buy S-400 missile defence system.

Addressing a news conference in Istanbul ahead of his departure for G20 Leaders’ Summit in Osaka, Japan, Erdogan said both Turkey and the U.S are members of NATO.

The US has given Turkey a deadline of 31th July to drop the purchase of the Russian S-400 system.
