ISLAMABAD: Former president Asif Ali Zardari and his sister Faryal Talpurhave at last appeared before the Federal Investigation Agency JIT probingthe money laundering scam.

They recorded their statement before the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA)team in the money laundering case.

FIA Additional DG Najaf Mirza, who chaired a meeting at the agency’sIslamabad office earlier today, probed Zardari and Talpur.

Theformer president and his sister were questioned for around 35 minutes.According to sources, Zardari avoided answering some questions.

Speaking to the media after his questioning, Zardari said, “Unfortunatelythe money laundering case was formed against him during former primeminister Nawaz Sharif’s tenure.”

The FIA on Saturday issued notices for a fourth time to the formerpresident and his sister to appear at the agency’s headquarters inIslamabad.

Zardari’s counsel Farooq Naik earlier denied that FIA’s case includes moneylaundering charges.

The FIA has to submit a reportin the Supreme Court regarding the ongoingprobe on Tuesday.
