Caretaker Interior Minister Sarfaraz Bugti, on Tuesday, clarified that his comments regarding Nawaz Sharif's arrival had been misconstrued after Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz reacted strongly.
In a TV interview on Monday, Bugti had mentioned that a significant police presence at the airport was unnecessary for an arrest and referred to the airport as a sensitive location where large crowds wouldn't be allowed.
However, on Tuesday, he explained that his remarks were taken out of context and assured that Nawaz would be treated in accordance with the law.
He also expressed positivity about Nawaz's return to politics, noting the desire of many of his party members to welcome him.
In response to Bugti's statements on Monday, Rana Sanaullah asserted that the decision regarding Nawaz's reception, whether arrest or welcome, should be made by the public, not the government.
Sanaullah criticized Bugti for going "beyond limits" with his statement and suggested that the interior minister should learn from Sheikh Rasheed's experiences.
