JCP recommends six judges for permanent appointments in SHC

ISLAMABAD: (APP) The Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) on Monday recommended six names of judges for permanent appointments in the Sindh High Court (SHC) and rejected the names of three additional judges as permanent justices.

According to sources, the JCP's meeting was held here with Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali in the chair.

The meeting was attended by senior judges of Supreme Court, Chief

Justice SHC, Law Minister Zahid Hamid, Attorney General for Pakistan, representatives of Pakistan Bar Council and other members.

The commission recommended the names of Justice Iqbal Mahr, Justice Khadim Hussain, Justice Zulifqar Ahmad, Justice Faisal Kamal, Justice Kaleem Agha and Justice Mahmood A Khan as permanent judges of SHC while it drop three names including Ghulam Qadir Leghari, Anwar Hussin and Abdul Ghani Somroo.

The recommended names will now go to the Parliamentary Committee on

Judges Appointment, which has the authority to approve or disapprove any name.
