President Arif Alvi expressed his admiration for Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Isa, highlighting the nation's high expectations of his performance and his potential to meet them.
President Alvi clarified that he was not the one who initiated the reference against Justice Faiz Isa, noting that it was forwarded to him from the Prime Minister's House. Subsequently, a former prime minister acknowledged that the reference should not have been forwarded, as per Dr. Alvi's statement to Geo News.
Regarding the timing of upcoming elections, President Alvi expressed uncertainty about whether they would take place in January, emphasizing the need for immediate elections due to the current state of the country.
He stressed the importance of transparent elections for the nation's well-being and its economic stability, emphasizing the significance of public participation.
The President commended Nawaz Sharif's statement advocating against seeking revenge and noted that the PML-N is in search of a new narrative. He pointed out the PML-N's recent survey, which indicated that people desire unity within the party and a level playing field.
In another development, the Punjab Cabinet suspended Nawaz Sharif's sentence in the Al-Azizia reference, a decision that President Alvi commented on.
President Alvi also expressed his strong condemnation of the May 9 incident, emphasizing his stance against violence. He reminded that the constitution dictates that the current president should continue their responsibilities until the next president is elected.
He acknowledged the potential for government instability in the parliamentary system and the significant challenges Pakistan faces under its democratic framework.
