LAHORE: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Thursday sought an explanation from the NAB chairman on the appointment of DG NAB Lahore, who allegedly possesses a fake degree.
The matter of DG NAB Lahore Major (retd) Salim Shehzad's appointment on the basis of a fake degree surfaced during the hearing of a suo moto case pertaining to illegal appointments in the anti-graft body.
The petitioner pleaded the court that Shehzad's degree, dating back to 2002, is written in the Calibri font, noting the font was introduced in 2007.
The apex court also issued a notice to DG NAB Lahore.
The committee, formed to review illegal appointments in the accountability body, also submitted its report to the apex court on Thursday.
During the hearing, the NAB prosecutor informed the court that appointments of 52 officials of Grade-18 have been reviewed, while appointments of another 40 staffers are yet to be examined.
