Pakistan Army will never use force against it's own people of Pakistan: COAS

ISLAMABAD: Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa told Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Sunday that Pakistan Army cannot use force against its own people.

The assertion came in a meeting between the two high-ups on how to end the three-week-long protest sit-in of religious parties outside Islamabad.

According to our correspondent, the army chief has clarified that forces cannot be used against the protestors, who are demanding Law Minister Zahid Hamid and the entire federal cabinet to step down.

The army chief’s response came in reply to government’s appeal for help.

Reports said General Bajwa has advised the PM that the government should determine the responsibility and punish those involved in the legislation regarding Khatm-e-Nabuwat oath.

Sources say the advice to restore transmission also came from the army chief.
