PTM leaders wanted release of suspected terrorists by attacking military checkpost: Report

ISLAMABAD - A group led by Mohsin Javed and Ali Wazir, assaulted Kharqamar check post, Boyya, North Waziristan tribal district this morning.

According to ISPR, they wanted to exert pressure for release of suspected terrorists’ facilitator arrested the other day.

Troops at the check post exercised maximum restraint in the face of provocation and direct firing on the post.

Due to firing of the group 5 Army soldiers got injured.

In exchange of fire 3 individuals who attacked the post lost their lives and 10 got injured.

All injured evacuated to Army Hospital for treatment. Ali Wazir along with 8 individuals have been arrested while Mohsin Javed is at large after inciting the crowd.

Director General ISPR Major General Asif Ghafoor has said that some elements are inciting and using PTM supporters and workers against state institutions for their vested agenda.

In a tweet message regarding North Waziristan incident, he said these supporters and workers need to care.

He said no one will be allowed to undo the gains of decades long national struggle and sacrifices especially of brave Pakistani tribals.

Meanwhile, talking to a private TV channel, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said the attack on check post was aimed at getting the arrested terrorists release.

She termed the assault on check post a tragic incident.

She said Imran Khan is the only Prime Minister who cared for the pains of tribal people.

The Special Assistant said state will take action according to law.

She said some miscreants are playing in the hands of anti-Pakistan elements and tribal people have already disassociated them from these miscreants.

Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said it is the time to reap the fruits of sacrifices rendered by tribal people.
