FIA cyber crime arrests gang involved in online blackmailing and extortion

QUETTA - The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) said on Saturday its Cyber Crime Unit has arrested two persons involved in blackmailing and extortion.
Additional Director FIA Cyber Crime Zone Balochistan confirmed that on the complaint of a victim of extortion and harassment, CCRC Quetta constituted a raiding team consisting of IP Masood Ahmed, ASI Bebarg and ASI M.Humayoun. The raiding team took action in Faisalabad and apprehended the accused nominated in the FIR namely Sufyan Maqsood and Ali Hassnain.
"Accused person lured the complainant by portraying himself as a girl and got access to obscene content related to the complainant.
Furthermore, on pretext of obscene videos the accused person was demanding money from him," he further said adding that accused person extorted Rs 94,000 from complainant which were deposited by complainant in bank accounts.
Digital media containing evidential material was properly seized. Additionally, further investigation is being carried out and progress will be followed up accordingly.
