International Conference in Birmingham deplores Occupied Kashmir human rights violations

BIRMINGHAM - In Britain, South Asia Centre for Peace and Human Rights (SACFPHR) has organized a conference titled “Peace in South Asia and the Role of Commonwealth” in Birmingham.
Chairman of the Council Professor Nazir Ahmed Shawl addressing the conference said firing is continued at the Line of Control causing the death of innocent civilians.
He said, peace, security of the region and the human rights are getting jeopardized.
Chairman of International Commission for Human Rights at the UN, Barrister Abdul Majeed Tramboo urged the need to stop violence on the ceasefire line.
Message from Chairman of Hurriyat Forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was also read out on the occasion. It said absence of any international initiative on Kashmir has created an explosive situation and a potential threat for regional and global peace.
Other speakers including British MPs classifying Kashmir among seven deadliest conflicts implored the member states of Commonwealth to address human suffering in occupied Kashmir.
