LAHORE: Former President of Pakistan and PPP Co Chairman Asif Ali Zardari lashed out at PM Nawaz Sharif over the issue of the General Elections 2013 rigging.
Former president and Co-Chairman of Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians, Asif Ali Zardari has said on Sunday that the political party has never lost an election except for ‘RO elections’; General Elections 2013 that opposition parties claimed were rigged by Returning Officers.
He briefly addressed the media in Lahore after attending a luncheon hosted in his honour by PPP’s Nadeem Afzal Chan.
He challenged Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s power in Punjab and claimed that PPP would let the political party know in 2018 what elections really mean.
Earlier in a statement, Zardari called for deliberation among parties over border management with Afghanistan to ensure elimination of terrorism and peace in the region. He said that border should be managed after consulting the political parties.
Zardari said that allegations regarding terror hideouts and safe havens have damaged the terms between Pakistan and Afghanistan. The former president advised against delaying management of the borders further.
He further said that all those who wish for elimination of terror should laud ongoing fencing along Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
He was pointing out Chief of the Army Staff, General Qamar Javed Bajwa’s announcement yesterday during his visit to Mohmand and Orakzai agencies. The army chief had announced on Saturday that fence-installation has begun at the border for improved cross-border management.
