Terrorism statistics reveal 100% decline in 2015: NACTA

ISLAMABAD: (APP) Coordinator for National Counter-Terrorism Authority (NACTA) Ihsan Ghani Tuesday said NACTA was playing its role of coordination effectively which had resulted in reducing terrorist incidents in the country.
Talking to PTV, he said there was visible improvement in law and order in the country due to effective measures taken under National Action Plan (NAP).
He said, under an act of 2013, role of NACTA was specified and consists of seven functions in which coordination was important function.
He said, according to NAP, major chunk of tasks was for the provinces, however many federal institutions were also its part including Ministries of, Interior, Defence, Information and Broadcasting, Finance and intelligence agencies.
NACTA play its role of coordination among provincial and federal institutions, he added.
"We held monthly meeting to review the progress and take measures to enhance coordination to cope terrorist activities," he said.
Ihsan Ghani said a recent American organization had published a report in which figures of terrorist attacks were compared of year 2014 and 2015.
It stated that there was a massive decrease in terrorism related incidents in Pakistan.
According to the report, 1823 incidents occurred in year 2014 while 1009 in 2015 which show almost hundred percent decrease.
To a question, he said Joint Investigation Directorate (JID) is part of NAP and efforts had been made for its establishment.He said formation of JID would be made soon.
