PCMA demands uniform RLNG price across country

LAHORE:Pakistan Chemical Manufacturers Association (PCMA) on Sunday called for ensuring uniform price of re-gasified liquid natural gas (RLNG) in all four provinces.
PCMA Chairman Zubair F Tufail, Senior Vice Chairman Zafar Mahmood, Vice Chairman Abdul Qayoom and executive committee members, including Mian Muhammad Adrees, in a joint press statement here, claimed that high price of RLNG in Punjab as compared to other provinces was creating problems for chemical industries in the province.
They urged Prime Minister Khaqan Abbasi and and Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif to take notice of the situation. Zubair Tufail said in comparison to international and regional economies, the high cost of gas and additional surcharge on electricity had perturbed local chemical manufacturers.
He said the RLNG was being supplied at Rs 600 per MMBTU in Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan but in Punjab its rate was Rs1300 per MMBTU, thus adding more than 100 per cent cost on this count, which had made the operation of chemical units unviable in this province. Mian Muhammad Adree called for setting the RLNG tariff at Rs 600 across the country.APP/AFP
