Government must provide us with weapons and equipment, then we will be able and ready to defend the country in any situation,” Rahmatullah, a soldier said.

The Afghan National Army (ANA) stationed in the border areas of the south-east provinces says it needs more improved equipment and government should provide it with the necessary weapons.

“Government must provide us with weapons and equipment, then we will be able and ready to defend the country in any situation,” Rahmatullah, a soldier said.

Meanwhile, Commander of 303 Spinghar Police Zone, Assadullah Shirzad said although the border forces defend the country with the weapons they have, they needed improved weapons and equipment to prevent insurgents of entering into the country.

“We have weapons and ammunition, but need more sophisticated weapons,” he said.

Paktia border province residents also said if the border forces are not equipped with advanced armament, insurgents will continue to cross into Afghanistan.

“Government should have clear plans here for supporting people and soldiers. Also, here should be heavy weapons,” said Mohammad Akbar Haqmal, head of development council of Zazai Aryob district of Paktia province said.
