ISLAMABAD: (APP) The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Monday admitted the petition of PTI leader Dr Shireen Mazari against Minister for Defence Khawaja Asif for allegedly using unparliamentary language against her for hearing.

Justice Athar Minallah heard the appeal of Dr. Shireen Mazari against the objections raised by the Registrar Office on her petition.
The Registrar Office had adopted the stance that the parliamentary proceeding could not be discussed in the court.

Petitioner’s counsel Barrister Shoaib Razzaq argued before the court that it was a matter of defamation and his client was personally targeted by the Defence Minister.
After hearing the arguments the court overruled the objections of Registrar Office and ordered to fix the case for hearing.

Dr. Shireen Mazari, in her petition, alleged that Khawaja Asif had used unparliamentary language against her during the National Assembly session on June 8, 2016 and prayed the court to direct the Speaker National Assembly to forward a reference to the Election Commission of Pakistan for the minister’s disqualification.
