ISLAMABAD: The Foreign Office dismissed on Friday US Secretary of StateMike Pompeo’s allegations about American diplomats being “treated badly” inPakistan and noted that no specific complaints had been made by Washington.
“The Foreign Office has not received any specific complaints from the USside after establishment of the mechanism to resolve the issue, ontreatment of the US diplomats in Pakistan,” FO spokesman Dr Muhammad Faisalsaid at the weekly media briefing.
Secretary Pompeo had, while testifying before the House Foreign AffairsCommittee on Thursday, said: “My officers, our State Department officers,are being treated badly as well, folks working in the embassies andconsulates [and] in other places are not being treated well by thePakistani government either.”
Responding to these allegations, Dr Faisal said that all Pakistan-basedforeign diplomats were being extended diplomatic privileges without anydiscrimination and were being facilitated as per international laws andnorms as well as reciprocity.
