ISLAMABAD – Pakistan has called for focusing on the root causes of decadesold international disputes like Kashmir and Palestine and their resolutionin a bid to promote world peace and security, reported by Radio Pakistanlink>.

Pakistan’s permanent representative to the United Nations Maleeha Lodhitold the UN Security Council “Gone are the days when the impact of armedconflicts on civilians was limited to collateral damage.

She said “targeted attacks, sexual violence, forced conscription andindiscriminate killings collectively paint an extremely bleak picture ofthe human costs of modern day armed conflict.

The Pakistan envoy said, “these crimes continue to be perpetrated inPalestine and Occupied Kashmir, two of the oldest disputes on the agenda ofthis Council.”
