Visas for Pakistan's national cricket team to participate in the ICC World Cup may soon become a reality, as reports suggest that the issuance of these visas is anticipated on Monday. However, the final approval hinges on the Indian Home Ministry's clearance, a crucial step in the process. Unfortunately, no substantial progress was achieved on this matter on Sunday due to the closure of the Pakistani high commission in India.
Recognizing the urgency of the situation, Pakistan had taken the initiative to raise the visa issue with the International Cricket Council (ICC). In a reassuring response, the ICC pledged its support to the Pakistan Cricket Board. This gesture underscored the importance of facilitating the team's participation in the upcoming tournament and maintaining the spirit of sportsmanship that cricket embodies.
The Pakistani squad had initially planned to depart for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on September 25. Their itinerary included a brief stay in the UAE before proceeding to Hyderabad.
In Hyderabad, they were scheduled to engage in their first warm-up match against New Zealand on September 29. The impending issuance of visas holds the promise of allowing this cricketing journey to proceed as planned, offering fans and players alike the prospect of an exciting tournament ahead.
