PSL 9: Important news regarding foreign nationals participation

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially commenced the registration process for foreign players intending to participate in the 9th season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

The PCB also revealed that the reevaluation of categories for local players will be completed and disclosed soon. The PCB's statement mentioned that the registration window for foreign players is now open for the upcoming PSL season, tentatively scheduled from February 8 to March 24.

Following the renewal of player categories, the trade and retention window will become accessible, along with the unveiling of the player draft pick order for the upcoming season. These trade and retention activities are expected to conclude before the PSL 9 Player Draft, tentatively scheduled for mid-December, following the National T20's conclusion on December 10 in Karachi.

The PCB also confirmed the window for the 2024 edition of the PSL last month, with the final schedule pending confirmation in the next meeting. The ninth season of the PSL will feature six teams, with no addition of additional teams in the upcoming season.

In a bid to support women's cricket, the PCB will explore opportunities for women's league or exhibition matches during the PSL. Additionally, the PCB will collaborate with franchises to consider alternative venues for contingency planning.

Despite potential election-related concerns, sources indicate that the PSL will not relocate to Dubai, and all franchises have agreed not to move the tournament elsewhere.

Should elections pose a threat to match schedules, adjustments to the PSL calendar will be made.
