Pakistan makes big demands in Security Council over Israel Hamas War

In his address to the Security Council, Pakistan's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Munir Akram, emphasized several crucial points regarding the ongoing conflict in Gaza. Firstly, he called for the immediate opening of the Aid Corridor to Gaza and urged for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire.
Akram expressed concern that Israel's continued aggression could escalate into a more extensive and perilous conflict, highlighting the need for swift international action.
Akram expressed disappointment that a ceasefire resolution had not been passed, underscoring the responsibility that falls on those who have contributed to the escalation of the conflict. He warned that the ongoing Israeli campaign in Gaza would result in more significant civilian casualties and the potential for a broader conflict.
Furthermore, Ambassador Akram conveyed Pakistan's unwavering support and solidarity with the Palestinian people during these challenging times. He strongly condemned Israel's relentless and indiscriminate bombardment of Gaza over a 17-day period, which had already claimed the lives of over 5,000 people and left 15,000 more injured. The Pakistani envoy particularly criticized Israel's attacks on schools, residential buildings, and hospitals.
Akram pointed out that these actions by Israel constituted flagrant violations of international humanitarian law and could be classified as war crimes. He emphasized the need for accountability for those responsible for such atrocities.
Lastly, Ambassador Akram expressed regret that the Security Council had not issued a call for a ceasefire, emphasizing the responsibility of those contributing to the prolonged conflict.
