Cipher Case: New developments reported in IHC

On Wednesday, former Prime Minister Pakistan and Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chief Imran Khan lodged a petition with the Islamabad High Court (IHC) challenging his indictment in the cipher case.
The special court had indicted Imran Khan and PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi in the cipher case on Monday. In his IHC petition, Imran Khan contests the legality of the indictment, deeming it "illegal and unlawful."
However, Imran's spokesperson for legal affairs, Naeem Haider Panjutha, asserted that the case was initially scheduled to be heard in the IHC on the following day but was later removed from the cause list.
The special court's indictment of PTI Chairman Imran Khan and Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi took place at the Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, presided over by special court Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain.
Previously, PTI had submitted a petition to halt the indictment, but the judge dismissed the petitions, affirming that the hearing was scheduled for the indictment.
The case revolves around the alleged "misuse" of the contents of a diplomatic cipher cited by ex-Prime Minister Imran as evidence of an attempt to destabilize his government.
