Ground being prepared for acquittal of PM Shahbaz Sharif in Rs 7 billion money laundering case

An accountability court (AC) in Lahore on Tuesday summoned the witnesses of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in the money laundering and assets beyond sources of income case against Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, his son Hamza Shehbaz and 14 other suspects to record their statements on the next hearing of the case, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Anwaar Hussain, who represented PM Shehbaz and his son, told the court that while the premier had already been granted permanent exemption from appearance in the court, his son Hamza was not feeling well today since he had a backache, and doctors had advised him complete bedrest.

The court granted one-day exemption to Hamza, and adjourned the hearing until November 15, 2022.

The allegation against prime minister’s family and other suspects in the case is that they laundered over Rs7 billion abroad and amassed assets beyond their sources of income.

Only PM Shehbaz is facing the allegation of laundering over Rs5 billion.
