ISLAMABAD - Special Assistant to PM Dr Zafar Mirza warns of tragedy in Pakistan over Coronavirus spread.Special Assistant to PM on Health Dr Zafar Mirza warned that a big tragedy could take place if people avoided precautionary measures and SOPs regarding the coronavirus pandemic were not implemented.
Talking to media, he said that the government eased the lockdown ahead of Eidal Fitr but people did not respond in a responsible way. He said that it seemed that there was no coronavirus disease in the country when people rushed to markets following the lift of restrictions.
Public might be thinking that the pandemic will end, he said, adding that the cases of the infection continued to rise.
“If we remain irresponsible towards out duties regarding coronavirus disease will increase and government will have to impose lockdown again,” he warned.
The government will review the situation after Eid, he said, adding that decisions regarding easing the lockdown could be reviewed if the situation remained safe.
The number of confirmed coronavirus cases surged to 56,349 in Pakistan on Monday, while the death toll stands at 1167.
