Election Commission of Pakistan takes vital step towards General Elections 2018

ISLAMABAD - The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday issued the draft of the polling scheme for the upcoming general elections.

The draft carries constituency-wise details of polling stations, including the number of polling booths and voters assigned to each station.

The scheme, covering the federal capital, Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa provinces and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) is available online.

As many as 86,436 polling stations will be set up across the country for elections. Of these, 48,667 will be in Punjab, 18,647 in Sindh, 14,655 in FATA and K-P and 4,467 in Balochistan.

Earlier this week, the commission recommended holding upcoming general elections between July 25 and July 27 under Section 57 (1) of the Elections Action Act 2017, in a summary forwarded to President Mamnoon Hussain.

The incumbent government is set to complete its term on May 31.
