Two top PTI leaders and supporters clash on twitter
KARACHI – The semblance of unity within the ranks of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf was badly shaken when televangelist Aamir Liaquat called his party fellow and veteran actor Hamza Ali Abbasi a drug addict, besides pieces of other advice.
Liaquat, who is known for his outspoken comments, was riled up when Hamza Ali Abbasi quoted a Hadith ( sayings of the Prophet Muhammad PBUH) in one of his tweets, in an interaction with a Twitterati.
Abbasi’s comments came after a social media user pressed him as to why Aamir Liaquat was using the sectarian card to woo voters.
‘I absolutely do not endorse it, its disgusting,’ tweeted the flamboyant Abbasi.
The Bol TV anchor was quick to respond and schooled the ‘Pyary Afzal’ star by saying that he should not quote and play with any Hadith.
‘You are a disgusting face of the channel, and a drug addict. It is better you stick to your day job,’ responded the scholar who is contesting the upcoming elections for NA-245 seat of the National Assembly.
Liaquat went a mile more in his comments and threatened that he would expose the beliefs of the star, provided he dishes in on matters other than acting.
‘Get off my mentions now,’ said the PTI leader.
When a political analyst asked Aamir as to why he was engaging himself in backbiting, Aamir wondered whether the action of Hamza Ail Abasi – of imposing a Hadith on him – was justified.
‘Please explain him first what Gheebat and backbiting is. Anyway, I am not going to prolong this either… take care,’ concluded the scholar and ended the debate which went unnoticed on mainstream media.
This is not the first time Hamza Ali Abbasi expressed his disdain for Aamir Liaquat as he was irked over his exit from Bol TV in November last year- a channel with which both the anchors are associated.
