AJK govt initiates work on 445 km long roads, 37 bridges costing Rs8.13B

MUZAFFARABAD: Azad Jammu and Kashmir government has initiated work on four hundred and forty five kilometer roads and thirty seven bridges at a cost of 8.13 billion rupees this year.
AJK Works and Communication Minister Chaudhary Muhammad Aziz said this at a news conference in Muzaffarabad today.
The Minister said that government has saved Rs 680.28 million by introducing Public Procurement Regulatory Authority rules in the state.
He said present government, for the first time, took a revolutionary step to ensure transparency and competitive bidding system in Azad Kashmir .
He said that all 37 development projects of 445 kilometers roads and 764 meters bridges of estimated cost 8.13 billion were awarded through the transparent bidding system that resulted into huge saving of public money.
