Pakistan-UK vow to work together for peace in Afghanistan

Pakistan and Britain have agreed to continue efforts towards reconciliation process for achieving sustained peace in Afghanistan.

The understanding came at a meeting between Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz and British Ambassador to Afghanistan Dominic Jermey in Islamabad on Wednesday.

The Adviser shared with the Ambassador, Pakistan's willingness to engage with the Government of Afghanistan in order to improve relations and promote peace and stability in Afghanistan. He also shared Pakistan's success in counter terrorism.

The British Ambassador stressed that the United Kingdom looked forward to play a facilitative role to promote peace and stability in Afghanistan.

The two sides discussed the peace and security situation in Afghanistan.

British High Commissioner to Pakistan Thomas Drew was also present on the occasion.
