State Minister for Narcotics Control breaks silence over the bail of Rana Sanaullah

Islamabad: State Minister for Narcotics Control Shehryar Afridi on Wednesday said the getting bail did not mean PML-N leader Rana Sanullah has been acquitted, adding that tactics were used to delay the case.

While talking to media, the minister said that after the bail a perception was created in the media that Rana Sanaullah was innocent. "Rana Sanaullah has not been acquitted by the court", the minister added.

“There’s a lot of talk in the media about video evidence,” he said.

The minister clarified that he "used the word footages in his press conferences and not video."

Previously, following Sanaullah's arrest in July, Shehryar Afridi had said the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) had "complete footage" of the PML-N Punjab President, Rana Sanaullah, before it moved to arrest him.

Afridi claimed that Sanaullah had been arrested after a three-week surveillance, adding that the ANF had complete and sufficient evidence to prove his involvement in the drug business.

On Tuesday, December 24, the Lahore High Court (LHC) granted bail to the former provincial minister in drug smuggling case.
