Russia and Iran decide to form Joint Military Commission

TEHRAN - Head of the Joint Commission of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Russian Federation Vice Admiral Osipov lgor Vladimirovich met with Chief of Staff for the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mohammad Baqeri.
Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation General Osipov along with Russian ambassador and accompanying delegation during his visit to Iran met with Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran Major General Mohammad Baqeri.
Top Russian military official presented a report on the process of forming a joint military commission of the two countries and the points agreed upon by the parties.
Referring to the historical ties between Iran and Russia, General Osipov highlighted many areas for cooperation between the two countries.
Major General Baqeri also referred to the most sensitive current situation in the region and the world and the necessity of establishing convergence links between the Iranian and Russian armed forces against terrorism and said the success of the two armed forces in the process of confronting terrorism in Syria and the defeat of Takfiri terrorists and their supporters in the region demonstrate the determination of Iran and Russia to deal with threats.
Senior Iranian military official emphasized that geopolitical and geo-strategic capabilities of Iran and Russia require the two countries' armed forces to develop and distinguish their cooperation areas in a long-term perspective and to manage and plan them within the framework of the Joint Military Commission's agreements. - IRNA
