FBR cracksdown against richest tax evaders of Pakistan

ISLAMABAD - The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has started crackdown against the richest tax evaders of Pakistan.
As per media report, FBR has started a crackdown against 167 affluent people residing in Islamabad, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Abbotabad, Lahore, Karachi and Hyderabad who have evaded taxes while buying properties and vehicles worth billions of rupees.
FBR gathered information about the richest people and has sent the details in a list to the relevant regional tax offices.
The details include their names, Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) numbers and financial information including pre-tax incomes for 2013-14 and onwards.
Details of the total taxable income and applicable taxes have also been sent and it is expected that notices asking the people to explain their sources of income will be sent by the next week.
According to the documents, 24 of the richest tax evaders identified in the list belong to Islamabad while 23 belong to Lahore. A total of 20 people each from Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Abbotabad, Karachi, Hyderabad and Bahawalpur have also been included in the list.
