Over 10,000 Kashmiris including hundreds of political leaders arrested in Occupied Kashmir

SRINAGAR - Over 10,000 Kashmiris including hundreds of political leaders and workers have been detained. The authorities have put almost all Hurriyat leaders, including Syed Ali Gilani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, under house arrest or in jails.
Illegally detained Kashmiri journalist, Aasif Sultan was granted the Press Freedom Award by American National Press Club.
He was arrested on 28th of August last year on fake charges and is still imprisoned in an Indian jail.
Media reports said that a 33-year-old Indian Civil Service officer, Kannan Gopinathan, has resigned from the government job stating that he was disturbed over the lockdown in Jammu and Kashmir.
In his resignation, he said there is denial of fundamental rights to tens of thousands of people in Kashmir for weeks.
