Mayor-elect Wasim Akhtar first address
KARACHI: (APP) Karachi's Mayor-elect, Wasim Akhtar Wednesday said that though elected from the platform of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) he is Mayor of entire city and will thus take everyone along and serve people without any distinction.
He was talking to media persons after the announcement of the unofficial results.
Wasim was of the view that with concerted efforts by all, the civic problems would be resolved.
He said that whatever happened in the past should be left behind and we should move ahead.
The Mayor-elect stated that all the political parties would be taken along.
He maintained that with Local Government enjoying powers, Karachi would make headway and the country would also move forward.
Wasim Akhtar lauded the role of Rangers for the maintenance of law and order and said that the Law enforcement Agencies (LEAs) have rendered sacrifices for the cause of peace.
However, he maintained, there are some elements that want to mar the city's peace and cooperation would be extended to Rangers and police for action against such elements.
The Deputy Mayor-elect of Karachi, Arshad Vohra and others were also present on the occasion.
