KPK Police to get technical assistance from UNODC

PESHAWAR: (APP) A four members delegation of United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) called on the Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Nasir Khan Durrani at his office on Thursday.
The delegation was led by Country Representative UNODC Pakistan Mr. Cesar Gaeds and its other members included Adviser Criminal Justice, Peshawar Mr. Danilo, Senior Programme officer Syed Arsalan and programme officer UNODC Malik Tauseef.
The Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa informed the delegation that the KP police has been focusing on capacity building of its work force to enable them to discharge their duty in a professional manner.
In this connection 06 Specialized Schools have been established during the last 03 years.
He proposed to the delegation to strengthen the capability of these schools.
He also informed the delegates about the Special Combat Unit (SCU) raised by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police to deal with menace of terrorism.
The Inspector General of Police proposed the services of UNODC to improve the capacity and tactical maneuverability of this unit.
The IGP also proposed the establishment of Forensic Science Laboratories (FSL) at Regional HQrs of the province to strengthen the investigation of criminal cases and particularly terrorism, by UNODC.
The Country Representative of UNODC Mr. Cesar Gaedes assured all technical support to the KP police for further harnessing its capability.
