KPK Government infrastructure projects in the province

PESHAWAR: (APP) The Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Parvez Khattak Thursday said that Swat motorway will prove a game changer for the area by bringing prosperity and development.
Inaugurating the first ever Provincial Swat Motorway at Col Sher Khan Interchange at Swabi, Chakdara the Chief Minister said that the contract for 81 km long Swat Motorway has been handed over to the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) which would be completed in 18 months
He said that an estimated cost of Rs 35 billion have been allocated besides Rs 5 billion would be spent on acquiring lands for the project.
The Chief Minister said that the present government had also approved the construction of Peshawar Metro Bus which would be completed at an estimated cost of Rs 32 billion.
Additionally, the government has also signed MoU with Chinese based construction company for construction of Metro train in the province which will connect Peshawar, Mardan, Charsadda and Nowshera.
The train service will be used by more than 50,000 people daily he said.
Chief Minister reiterated that the present government has also started work on the Chashma Lift Kanal which will be completed at a total cost of Rs 120 Billion and will irrigate 2.75 lac acres of land.
The provincial government will provide 30 percent of the total expenditure on Chisha Lift Kanal. The project has been overdue for the past 25 years because of indifferent attitudes of previous governments, Chief Minister added.
He said that the Hazara Expressway will be completed soon and by connecting it with the CPEC route, Hazara division will witness remarkable development.
He said that KP government convinced the federal government for shifting the route of CPEC project towards the western route, construction of expressway and railway track from Peshawar to DI Khan and a train service from Peshawar to Islamabad.
The CM said that domestic and foreign investment could be attracted only through developing infrastructure.
Chief Minister further stated that a total of 10,000 Canals land has been acquired by the provincial government for the construction of industrial estate at Mera Mughal Kai and Mera Mian Issa areas at Nowshera.
This will help in developing the entire region bringing prosperity and job opportunities not only to locals but also to people of the entire region.
Moreover, a total of 80,000 Canals of land has been acquired for the construction of modern city near Swabi.
FWO Director General, Major General Muhammad Afzal vowed to complete the Swat Motorway in 15 months instead of 18 months and the project will bring tremendous boost in the tourism sector of the province by providing easy access to tourist spots in the province.
