CJCSC meets Russian Chief of Armed Forces

RAWALPINDI: (APP) Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Rashad Mahmood, on Wednesday called on General Valery Gerasimov, Chief of General Staff, Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, in Moscow.
Gen Rashad is currently on an official visit to Russia, ISPR press release here said.
During the bilateral talks, matters of mutual interest with emphasis on geo-strategic situation and security challenges came under discussion. Both the sides reaffirmed the resolve to enhance cooperation between the two armed forces.
The Russian General lauded the professionalism of Pakistan armed forces and acknowledged their sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.
The CJCSC also visited Russian Institute of Strategic Studies (RISS) and called on Lieutenant General (Retd) Leonid P. Reshetnikov, Director RISS.
Earlier upon arrival at Ministry of Defence, the CJCSC laid a wreath at Victory Park and was presented the Guard of Honour.
