An Indian man travelling from Delhi to New York urinated on a co-passenger on an American Airlines flight, media reports said.
The accused passenger was deemed drunk by the airline staff and he urinated on the co-passenger during an argument, the reports said, adding that he was arrested after the plane landed at the Delhi airport last night.
The aviation watchdog has taken appropriate action after it received a report from the airline. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation will further probe the matter as per its internal procedure, they added.
American Airlines, in a statement, said it faced a "disruption on board" a flight bound for Delhi.
"American Airlines flight 292 with service from John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) was met by local law enforcement upon arrival in DEL due to a disruption on board," it said.
The American Airlines flight reached the Delhi airport around 9pm but had reported the matter to the airport before landing. Multiple incidents of passengers urinating on co-flyers allegedly after consuming liquor have been reported over the past few months. This is at least the second such incident in two months on an American Airlines flight.
An Indian student at a US university, Arya Vohra, was banned by American Airlines after he allegedly urinated on a co-passenger in March.
Last November, a drunk man had allegedly urinated on an elderly woman in the business class of an Air India flight. The incident was reported in January and the accused was arrested while the airline banned him from flying for 30 days.
Last December, a passenger had allegedly urinated on a vacant seat of a co-flyer on an Air India flight to Delhi from Paris.
