Khawaja brothers’ bail petitions adjourned till May 7

LAHORE: A Lahore High Court (LHC) division bench adjourned hearing of bail petitions filed by former railways minister Khawaja Saad Rafique and his brother former provincial minister Khawaja Salman Rafique in Paragon City scam till May 7.

The bench adjourned the matter due to absence of National Accountability Bureau prosecutor who could not appear due to sickness.

The bench comprising Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmad Khan and Justice Mirza Viqas Rauf heard the post arrest bail petitions filed by the Khawaja brothers.

The Khawaja brothers had filed the bail petitions submitting that they did not have any link with Paragon City. They submitted that all allegations levelled against them were baseless whereas the bureau did not have any proof against them.

However, on last hearing, the NAB prosecutor claimed that the Khawaja brothers were real owners of Paragon and its Director Qaisar Ameen Butt and others had given statements in this regard.

He submitted that the Khawaja brothers received hefty amounts from Paragon and its subsidiary executive builders in their accounts. He questioned that if they did not have any link with Paragon then why these amounts were transferred to their accounts.
