Pakistan engineering companies taking part in Hannover Messe fair

ISLAMABAD: Some 33 engineering companies from Pakistan are participating in Hannover Messe 2017, a leading technology fair being held in Hannover, Germany, till April 28.

The participation of these companies in the fair has been arranged the by Engineering Development Board (EDB), Ministry of Industries and Production.

Pakistan's Ambassador to Germany Johar Saleem Tuesday visited Pakistan Pavilion and met the exhibitors on their stalls and appreciated the quality of products displayed by them.

He also appreciated the dcor of stands and the colour scheme selected by the EDB, which made Pakistan Pavilion one of the most attractive booths at the fairground, according to an EDB press statement issued here Tuesday.

The ambassador appreciated the EDB's efforts for organizing participation of the engineering industries in this world's leading technology fair and ensured them of all the support for exporting of engineering goods to European countries.

He Ambassador urged the exhibitors to continue follow up activities with the visitors at their booths to convert these opportunities into real business transactions, which will result in economic benefits for the country.

A part from potential exporters, Pakistan delegation also comprises of five professors from leading engineering universities of Pakistan, who are visiting the exhibition to get exposure of emerging technologies, future engineering trends, state of the art machinery and the processes showcased in the exhibition.

This will lead to dissemination of knowledge to the young graduates in addition to establishing university industry linkage.

Pakistan Pavilion remained in the focus of visitors due to its design and central location and the giveaway items including mini footballs and green bags attracted attention of the foreign visitors.

The EDB organized participation in Hannover Messe consecutively from 2006 to 2009 and revived this activity with the support of Ministry of Commerce in 2016. The current participation is second one since 2016, the statement added.

The exhibitors shared their experiences with the ambassador during his visit and thanked the Government of Pakistan for prioritizing participation of engineering sector in such a specialized trade fair through Engineering Development Board which is a technical arm of Ministry of Industries & Production and works very hard for promotion of Engineering Industry of Pakistan for its integration into the Global Supply Chain.

It is pertinent to mention that the event was inaugurated jointly by German Chancellor and Prime Minister of Poland on April 22. (APP)
