Mashal Khan murder case: Two more accused arrested

PESHAWAR – Two more accused were arrested in connection with the murder of Mashal Khan, the student of Abdul Wali Khan University, Mardan on Tuesday.

The number of people arrested in Mashal murder case has reached 36 while the accused will be presented the court today..

Earlier, police had arrested Bilal Baksh, an employee of Abdul Wali Khan University in connection with the murder of Mashal Khan, a journalism student in Mardan.

Police said that Bilal Baksh, a computer operation at the university, is the main accused in Mashal Khan’s murder.

Earlier, the Supreme Court had on Wednesday barred Peshawar High Court from constituting a judicial commission to probe into the barbaric killing of Mashal Khan.

A three-member bench of the apex court, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Saqib Nisar resumed hearing of the suo moto case.

During the proceedings, the court restrained Peshawar High Court (PHC) from constituting a judicial commission.

In his remarks the Chief Justice said he has no words to express over deep shock and grief over the incident.

The Chief Justice directed that investigation into the case must not be restricted to recording of statements alone.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa IG requested the court for more time to complete the report. He told the court that 80 percent investigation has been completed and the challan will be submitted in the court after completing the investigation soon.

The court has adjourned the hearing of suo motto case in the lynching of the student of Abdul Wali Khan University at Mardan, Mashaal Khan, till April 27.
