Indian Police re-arrest senior APHC leader in Baramulla

ISLAMABAD: Indian police re-arrested the illegally detained senior APHC leader and the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Muslim League (JKML), Masarrat Aalam Butt, after he was bailed out by a court in Baramulla in a false case registered against him in 2016.

The JKML Legal Secretary, Shah Riyaz in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the Court of Baramulla Munsif had granted bail to Masarrat Aalam Butt two days ago, Kashmir Media Service reported.

He said that the authorities of Baramulla jail set the senior APHC leader free on Monday as the bail order was served to them. However, he said, Indian police re-arrested him and shifted him to some undisclosed location.

It is to mention here that Masarrat Aalam Butt is behind the bars since October 2010 after he spearheaded mass uprising that year.

During this period, he remained outside the jail for about forty days in 2015. Since 1990, the puppet authorities have booked Masarrat Aalam Butt under black law, Public Safety Act, 34 times. (APP)
