Pakistan earns praise from UN Security Council

UNITED NATIONS – The U.N. Security Council Sunday condemned “in thestrongest terms” the deadly terrorist attacks at the Chinese ConsulateGeneral in Karachi and a market in Orakzai district, as the 15-member bodypraised the “swift response” of the Pakistani authorities in dealing withthem.

Earlier, on November 23, at least three suspects arrived at the consulatein a white coloured vehicle and opened fire on the security guard. Theunknown assailants tried to enter the building however; the guardretaliated and foiled their attempt.

Heavy contingent of police, Rangers, Frontier Corps (FC) and army weredeployed to the area who managed to control the situation. Security forcescordoned off the area while all the traffic enroute towards the consulatewas blocked.
