WASHINGTON – The US government recently appointednew spokesperson at the State Department has stunned Pakistani and Indianaudience with her Urdu speaking skills.
Helena White is quite fluent in Urdu language and very fond of Urdu poetry.She spoke fluently in Urdu and impromptu as she talked to an Indian TVchannel.
Talking abut her job , she said her appointment is aimed at directlyconveying message to South Asian audiences.
“Urdu is very sweet language. I am fond of reading Urdu books and poetry,and watching Urdu TV programs,” she says.
Helena White also sang an Urdu song: “Tujh Se Naraz Nahi Zindahi, HarianHoon Main,”.
