ISLAMABAD – PTI government announced construction of Kalabagh Dam, one ofthe biggest water reservoir in Pakistan.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government has announced theconstruction of Kalabagh Dam. According to a reply submitted by FederalMinister for Water Resources Faisal Vawda to the parliament, the biggestwater reservoir Kalabagh Dam will be constructed to deal with theincreasing crisis of water in the country.
He told the parliament that new water reservoirs will be constructed toremove the water scarcity in the country.
Under the WAPDA plan, Chiniot Dam, Karam Tangi Dam, Shevak Dam and SkarduDam would be constructed. The Sindh areas, under the plan, will beirrigated by increasing water supply and recharging the underground waterfrom the Sindh Barrage.

After the construction of new dams, the total capability to store the waterreservoir will reach 25.05 million acre feet, which will be double ascompared to current capacity.
