Pakistan Railways two trains crash

In Sheikhupura, a tragic incident unfolded on Sunday, resulting in injuries to approximately 20 passengers, including women and children. This unfortunate event occurred when two trains collided near Qilla Sattar Shah in the Sheikhupura district, according to reports from the local police. The collision transpired when a passenger train bound for Mianwali struck a stationary freight train occupying the main railway line.

In the immediate aftermath of the accident, rescue teams swiftly arrived at the scene to provide assistance. They promptly transported the injured individuals to a nearby hospital, where five of them are reported to be in critical condition.

The railway authorities have mobilized efforts to carry out rescue operations at the accident site, ensuring the safety and well-being of passengers.

Despite this distressing incident, train operations in the Lahore division continue to function smoothly following the collision, as stated by the railway spokesperson. However, in response to the incident, four railway officials, including the train driver Imran Sarwar and his assistant Muhammad Bilal, have been suspended pending further investigation. An inquiry commission, under the leadership of a deputy principal officer, has been established to investigate the incident thoroughly and is expected to submit its findings within the next 24 hours.
