S. Korea condemns deadly terrorist attack in Iran

SEOUL: South Korea's foreign ministry strongly condemned a deadly terrorist attack on a military parade in Iran and expressed condolences to victims.
The ministry also conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved families and Iranian people.
The attack occurred around 9 a.m. on Saturday when gunmen opened fire on the military parade in the southwestern Iranian city of Ahvaz.
The parade was meant to commemorate the beginning of Iran's war against Iraq in the 1980s.
North Korea's ceremonial head of state, Kim Yong-nam, expressed deep sympathy and condolences to Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and the families of the deceased, the North's official Korean Central News Agency said in a brief dispatch.
The attack killed at least 29 people, including women and children, and injured more than 70 others, according to Iran's state-run IRNA news agency.
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif tweeted on Saturday that "Iran will respond swiftly and decisively in defense of Iranian lives." Kim also renewed his country's opposition to terrorism.
