PEMRA warns TV channels over foreign content

ISLAMABAD: (APP) Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) on Saturday issued reminder to television channels for not exceeding the limit of foreign content in their daily broadcast.

The cancellation of licence or fine upto Rs one million would be imposed in terms of punishment to those TV channels, airing foreign content more than prescribed limit, according to a press release.

According to PEMRA rules, TV channels cannot air more than 10 percent foreign content which is as per rules four percent English and six percent Indian content during the 24 hours transmission.
The reminder has been issued after the authority observed that channels were violating the rule.
