British PM appreciates rapid progress made in Punjab: UK High Commissioner

LAHORE: (APP) British High Commissioner Thomas Drew during a meeting on Saturday with Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif paid tribute to his leadership qualities.

He said Punjab was making rapid progress under the leadership of Shehbaz Sharif who had taken commendable measures for welfare of people and uplift of social sectors.

He said under the leadership of Shehbaz Sharif, education, health and other social sectors were improving. He added that British Prime Minister Theresa May had also appreciated rapid progress made by Punjab province.

Thomas Drew said Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif was the first international leader who telephoned Theresa May and congratulated her on her nomination as the British Prime Minister.

He said British Prime Minister Theresa May was expected to visit Pakistan next year.

Thomas Drew said Punjab was making rapid progress and people were fully benefiting from the far-reaching reforms programme of Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif. He said proper and transparent use of British taxpayers money had been ensured in Punjab.
