Currently, the Supreme Court is hearing a case related to timely general elections. In response, the President of the Supreme Court Bar, Abid Zubairi, stated that they filed the request on August 16.

Despite the request being assigned a number, the case has not been heard yet. They requested that the Election Commission be ordered to hold elections within 90 days and that an order be issued to publish the results of the population census.

Justice Athar Minallah asked whether a population census is necessary for elections, and those responsible for the delay in the census should be held accountable. He inquired about the desire to hold elections and when the 90-day period will be completed, to which Abid Zubairi responded that they want elections to be held and that now elections cannot be held in 90 days as time will be completed on November 3, 2023.

Chief Justice questioned whether elections can be held within 90 days if they issue an order today. Abid Zubairi responded that if the court issues an order today, elections cannot be held on November 3. Chief Justice suggested amending their application, asking if they are requesting the enforcement of Article 224 of the constitution. Abid Zubairi confirmed that this is indeed their request.
