CJP Qazi Faiz Isa rings the alarm bells for the government

Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Qazi Faiz Isa, said that if anyone violates the constitution, Article 6 will be invoked. He questioned what should be done if the President has not provided an election date. He suggested that they could issue a notice to the President for not setting an election date. He also mentioned the power to reinstate government writand invoke Article 6 if there is a constitutional violation.
Currently, the Supreme Court is hearing a case related to timely general elections. During the hearing, Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Isa asked the President of the Supreme Court Bar, "When did you file your application?" In response, the President of the Supreme Court Bar, Abid Zubairi, stated that they filed the request on August 16.
Despite the request being assigned a number, the case has not been heard yet. They requested that the Election Commission be ordered to hold elections within 90 days and that an order be issued to publish the results of the population census.
Chief Justice emphasized the importance of the case related to general elections, stating that it should have been heard immediately. Justice Athar Minallah asked whether a population census is necessary for elections, and those responsible for the delay in the census should be held accountable. He inquired about the desire to hold elections and when the 90-day period will be completed, to which Abid Zubairi responded that they want elections to be held and that now elections cannot be held in 90 days as time will be completed on November 3, 2023.
Chief Justice questioned whether elections can be held within 90 days if they issue an order today. Abid Zubairi responded that if the court issues an order today, elections cannot be held on November 3. Chief Justice suggested amending their application, asking if they are requesting the enforcement of Article 224 of the constitution. Abid Zubairi confirmed that this is indeed their request.
